Jennair and Whirlpool combination microwave and wall oven

Why is Levetown Law Investigating Whirlpool, JennAir, and KitchenAid appliances?

Levetown Law is investigating whether a faulty circuit board is the cause of multiple combination microwave/wall oven failures in JennAir, Whirlpool, and KitchenAid appliances. As a result, the defect frequently causes the display to show error code F2E1.

What might be causing this defect and error code?

It appears a defective “heatsink” may be causing circuit board failures. A heatsink is a heat exchanger that is designed to draw heat away from a circuit board or other electrical component and to dissipate that heat in order to regulate the temperature of the device. Levetown Law has discovered the defect may be widespread.

Are there other Whirlpool, JennAir, and KitchenAid components that may be defective?

Yes. In addition, Levetown Law is investigating a potentially defective door latch assembly that causes Kitchen Aid, Whirlpool, and Jennair appliance doors on microwave ovens, wall ovens, and dishwashers not to latch properly. It appears the door latch assembly may contain a defective spring.

As a result, Whirlpool has issued a Technical Service Bulletin (found here) addressing the defect. It lists model numbers for Kitchen Aid, Whirlpool and Jennair appliances and links to this video about fixing the issue.

What options do I have?
